I had surgery on January 6 to have a trial with the Neuro Nerve Stimulator to see if it would give me relief from my chronic 24/7 pain. My pain is in my head and neck. I was told the surgery would take about 4 hours. It took about 3 1/2 hours including the adjustment of the stimulator itself.
Neuro Nerve Simulators have been used for several years for back pain. However the procedure for head pain is very new. I was a bit anxious but would have done anything to get some relief from the pain.
I got great relief with the stimulator but not the 50 % we had hoped for. I estimated the relief at about 30 - 35%. However that was a great amount of relief to someone who had lived with chronic pain for over 20 years.
The trial stimulator was taken out on Wednesday January 13th. The pain was immediately back to a 10. The pain meds were so strong that they knocked me out for a night and day.
I am now waiting for a date to have the permanent stimulator put in. I can't wait. I want that pain relief even if it is only 30-35%
You can read more about the neuro nerve stimulator at Tame The Pain. This site is run by the company that makes the stimulator. It only gives information on simulators implanted for back pain because the stimulator for heads are so new. However it is great information for anyone in pain.
